| How
do I get care for my mother in her home? |
| The
Community Care Access Centre is responsible for assessing
the needs of clients wishing to remain in their home.
If your mother meets the assessment criteria for assistance
in her home, the CCAC will initiate service for your
mother. If you require additional help for your mother
you may purchase service privately either through our
company or by calling other service providers in your
community. |
|
 |
| How
can I be assured the employees that you send to me are
reputable? |
| Our
employees are individually interviewed and assessed for
their level of knowledge. We require two professional
references, validation of credentials and a current police
check prior to hire. Registered Nurses supervise and
closely monitor all community employees. Our employees
are bondable and the company is sufficiently insured
to cover any inappropriate behaviour in the home. |
|
 |
| What
is the difference between a Registered Nurse, a Registered
Practical Nurse and a Personal Support Worker? |
Registered
employees are certified by the College of Nurses of Ontario
and as such are accountable to the public and responsible
for insuring that her/his professional practice and conduct
meet legislative requirements and the standards of the
profession.
Personal support workers may be Health Care Aides, Home
Support Workers or certified Personal Support Workers.
They are able to provide personal care activities that
support daily living in the home such as light housekeeping,
shopping and companionship |

My
mother is having surgery and will be in the hospital
for at least a week. I do not want her left alone, especially
at night.
Can you help? |
| Yes.
We will have a Nurse Manager contact you to set up a
personalized care plan based on your mother's needs while
she is in the hospital. In all likelihood, she will require
the service of a personal support worker and not registered
staff. Hours can be arranged at a time to suit you, from
a minimum of three hours up to twenty-four hour care.
Our employees are supervised by Nurse Managers all of
whom are Registered Nurses. |
|
 |
| What
is the minimum number of hours per day that I can contract
with your company for service? |
| Usually
the minimum number of hours per visit is three. In special
circumstances we are able to arrange less time. This
is dependent on the availability of employees already
working in your area. |
